Here we are again, doing the Identity Crisis thing. So, this week’s topic will be Halo for the X-Box console. It is most likely the best game for X-Box, and shows room for a possible franchise. Halo is a First Person Shooter, set in the future during a war with aliens. Halo can be multiplayer, up to 4 players (unless you connect 4 X-Box’s together...then you'd have 16 and I sure hope no one in the world does this). Be warned, there will be spoilers (but too many people think X-Box is the worst entertainment system in the world so I know you probably won't care).
Halo contains fairly complex alien creatures. They speak in their own languages, sometimes even English. The aliens called The Covenent feature a variety of different species, ranging from lizard-like creatures to huge aliens in bulky armor with heavy firepower. You did happen to crash land on this alien object, so you run across covenent vehicles a lot. Another alien mutated race (if you can call it a race) called The Flood has different species (deformed, but species all the same). They ooze into the game and kill you and the covenent will bring their history and mutant attacking horrors (and looks).
The story line of Halo is simplistic, and yes there is a story line. However, complexity isn't always necessary for a great adventure (when combined with killing...er....fighting). Most of Halo is killing your alien enemies (kill your team mates for a tad of a different fun), though there is events, battles, and cut scenes that move the whole story along. From the time you crash onto the Halo all the way to you being the sole survivor that escapes, lots of events, missions, and killing and so on. Action in this game runs hand-in-hand with the plot and the events, not to mention the problems that are faced in each level of the game.
The best quality about Halo is the fighting. The range of weapons to choose from and the varieties of killing, its murderer-to-be's fantasy (not intended to be taken seriously), I mean a wonderful stress relieving system. The death animations are very smooth, adding to the killing and death effect. There's nothing better about a shooter game, then killing with weapons, vehicles, and bombs. You can even make a game out of it, after you throw a fancy sticking bomb at an enemy bet against your friends whether it will run towards you or its team mates before it blows up. Even imagine your sibling as an enemy, I mean remove the alien scum (once again, not to be taken seriously)!
So, in conlcusion, Halo is a great First Person Shooter. Don't forget Halo's enemies, plot, and fighting when you think about it next time. Remember that often simple things (such as Halo's story) are just as great as they are complex, and maybe even better. Don't judge the game by the console it is on, and keep on playing your games! So until next time, good day.
