"What Is Your Least Favorite Genre and Why?"

Chad Phillips:

Although Racing Sims and Fighters come close, I would have to say Fighting games just aren't my style. I know a lot of people cherish this genre, but I personally blow at these games. I suppose it's the fast pace that drives my pacemaker over the edge, or maybe it's the random (or so it looks to me) button-smashing that ends up with my character impaled on an ice spike. I've never been good and I've never really loved the genre. As far as I can see, I'm not missing out on much... (oh boy, I can't wait to get the letters from that statement)

Gamal Aly:

I would have to say that my least favorite genre of games have to be of the racing genre. I am an RPG, Action/Adventure, strategy extremist, but racing games just don't do it for me. There was only one racing game that ever made me like the racing genre for a succinct period and it was San Francisco Rush for the Nintendo 64 back in the late 90's. This game took all the crazy aspects of the action/adventure game and rolled it into one with the racing style that only Rush could have. I am dead set in my ways and not even the slightest bit engrossed in any racing game because I can't deal with the ennui of the genre...it seems boring and to me, the whole point of playing a game is to help myself drift off into my own little fantasy world, but not to be bored.

Joseph Mayer:

I pretty much like everything, everything except RPGs. Now this isn't to say I don't like all RPGs. It's just mainly console RPGs that I don't like. Games like Final Fantasy and such are just too boring for me. The story has far too big a role in the game. I love the classics, Dragon Warrior and Phantasy Star for example. The stories in these games are just there to guide you, not control you. But I'm also a fan of almost every MMORPG, where again, the story has a very small role. I could elaborate far more on what I dislike about RPGs but that would take too long.

Amber Maynard:

I have to think you are crazy, because I like RPG's, though I dislike racing and sports games. However, I dislike sports more than racing. I'm sure most people would agree with me in some sense that instead of sitting down playing football on PlayStation 2, it's much better to go out and actually play the sport. Not only is there more skill, but it's more accomplishing to be able to beat someone/some team in the sport rather than having skill in your fingers from hitting the buttons fast enough. Not to mention I don't like sports all too much, but quite frankly I believe sports games are a lousy way to feel better about "beating" someone in a sport. No one can disagree that the sports genre of games is lazy world for an illusionary feeling of triumph.

Justin Camp:

Well, I used to love RPGs, but it seems that most new ones are weak and uninspired, so I seem to have faded away from that genre the most. Plus, most RPGs have that stupid turn-based, linear system and I hate that. Though, I do like the grid-movement and free roaming battle systems. Also, RPGs have become too gimmicky, I mean, old-school RPGs weren't about Disney characters or some weakling who has to find himself throughout the game.

David Meylan:

Girly games are my least favorite genre, you know, those nancy pants Barbie horse racer and The Olsen twins Jailbait videogames, those games that when you look at them you either want to laugh hysterically or break them, trust me, gimmicky RPG's beat being The Olsen Twins, not that I ever played them, but they're like Cher, waaay past their prime (provided Barbie and the Olsen twins even had a prime, that is). Point is, girly games are the bane of the FPS's existence. My rant is done.
