Xenosaga Episode III Announced on April 13, 2006.
Too long? Too short? One can only hope they make up their minds

Namco Bandai Games has announced today that Xenosaga Episode III: Also sprach Zarathustra will be making its way to American store shelves this fall. This third and final chapter of the series will attempt to bring the epic storyline to a close with improved graphics, expanded gameplay and more of the extensive cut-scenes that have been Xenosaga’s trademark.

According to Namco, the game’s storyline will pick up shortly after the events of the second episode as players rejoin series regular Shion on her journey to discover the secrets of the mysterious Gnosis beings. In addition to the standard RPG gameplay, the game will also include an extensive database called the “Xeno Bible” and a 50 level mini-game new to the series.

The first Xenosaga was received well although some found fault with its heavy reliance on cinematic cut-scenes that could exceed 45 minutes at times. The second Xenosaga episode remedied that complaint but had its own fair share of issues with what some considered to be a simplified combat engine and short overall game length. It will be interesting to see how Namco manages to end a series that some had thought would last longer than its three chapters. If all goes well Xenosaga Episode III will turn out to be a fitting end for the series, and if not, well we won’t have to worry about seeing another one will we?
