Luigis Mansion Review
Introduction Hailed by most as the first in a line of many for the nicknamed
"Kiddy Cube", Luigi's Mansion was one of the first games released for
the NGC. Though many shun this game for its cartoon-like graphics
and gameplay, it is really a very nice, fun, kid-friendly game.
Meaning your mother won't kill you for letting your already violence-
driven little brother see a game in which the main objective is not
to massacre.
Gameplay
Again, like I've already said in previous reviews, sound is not
usually a strong suit of mine, but this is an exception! Luigi's
Mansion is either hilarious or gay, depending on how you look at it.
Rather, how you listen to it. The music is great, because Luigi
either whistles or hums along with it, depending on how scared he is.
The sound effects are ok, not too shabby, but more or less the same
as the older Mario games.
Fun This is a great family friendly game that really isn't all that
childish. When I wrote this part into my notebook, I felt like I was
saying the same thing over and over again... good family game, not
just for little kids. I said it five times over just using different
words. Serious suckage for the reader... So I'll just finish here.
Luigi's Mansion is very much the same good game that we've come to
expect from Mario Bros. games.
Story As I've already said, the graphics are somewhat cartoonish, very
much like what we know and love in most Mario games. Because it was
such an early game, occasionally the camera will cut through
something, but not as often as in games previously made. One thing
very nice about this game is it's interactivity with the environment.
Nearly everything can be manipulated in one way or another, but that's
really part of gameplay... oh well!
Graphics Now fun is where this game shines. It is great for playing a
couple of hours to get your mind off of homework, for chilling with
friends, or late at night after playing Resident Evil for 9 hours
straight, so that you can actually get some good quality sleep!
Seriously, what could be more fun then sucking up ghosts with a
vacuum cleaner? The only thing I can think of is spraying goo with a
super soaker...
Sound Unfortunately, the replay value of this game stinks mean, it
stinks worse then Luigi's vacuum cleaner! It's good the first time,
but after that best bet is to put it aside for 3 or 4 months, then
try to get Luigi a mansion or tent, depending on how you want to play.
Overall, the gameplay isn't bad. Actually it's pretty good, but
there are some times that you just can't figure out what the heck is
going on! It's not very intuitive that you should pull the drapes so
that you can make a ghost get up to close them so that you can get to
their heart... is it? It's bad enough with the bosses, but the mini-
bosses are the worst. Besides that, the controls are tough to get
used to, but you do get used to them.
