Winning Eleven 6 International9.5

Winning Eleven 6 International Review

Soccer is a great sport, and therefore it has millions of fans around the world. A big percent of us, soccer fans enjoy video games. Throughout the years we had a new improved soccer game, but finally, it seems that we hit the jackpot. A superb game released by Konami, Winning Eleven 6 International will give us hours of entertainment, a joy before we thought we could only experience while playing real soccer, in a major league!    Starting with the menu, I have to admit it’s not very user friendly. However it does include everything you would want to do. There are many game modes, including, league, cup, friendly and the most exciting one, the master league. The Master League will let you choose a team and rock with it. You start in Division 3 and 3000 points. You will have to make your way up to division 1 to become the absolute ruler of the game. However if you lose the points… game over!     The game offers a large selection of teams and players. The only problem I have with the teams is that Konami does not have a license to use real team names. This does not stop you from creating your all star team though. You can get players from most of the countries, and yes, most of them have real names, with the exception of some countries or mistakes I have spotted in the spelling of names. Thanks to the customization options this can be easily fixed. You can edit your players, create players. You can also edit the teams, even the team flags! If you do so in the game you will see the flag you created, however the speaker will still say the old name. Winning Eleven 6 offers a completely new gameplay. It is not similar to any other soccer game out in the video game market. First off all, I would like to mention the speed and difficulty of the game. In all soccer games the players either run too fast or you would get to a point where you got a tactic that always ends up with you scoring. In Winning Eleven 6 you will play games where you won’t even get to score. You need to really know what you are doing to get to score a goal. Your players run across the field like real people and something I really like about the game, you can’t tackle like crazy…well of course unless you like seeing red cards. You have to tackle really carefully to get the ball; it’s like in real life. With a sliding tackle you need to be really skilled and time the move good for if you miss and touch the player, it will be a foul. Standing tackles will also end up in fouls from time to time. This makes the gameplay really challenging, which is good!    Just in defense as in offense the controls are a little bit difficult, but soon you get used to them. By being difficult they also add up to the reality of the play. Once you get used to the controls you will find the game easier, and more fun. By easier I don’t mean you will go out there and score 4-5 goals, it won’t happen often. The controls are nicely set, you can do any movement you could do in real life. There is a set of basic and advanced controls. Most of the basic are done just like that, by pressing the buttons. But if you hold L1 you could get some awesome advanced moves. There is no need to be scared, the excellent practice mode will guide you to get the best out of you!    In the technical aspect, the graphics are done perfectly. When someone came in and saw me playing they just starred at the TV and thought they were watching a real game. The animations in the game are impressive. There is a pretty good amount of them in the game. They are very varied and you won’t notice when they repeat. When a foul is done the players just stare at each other which I think is pretty cool, looks like the start of a fight. While playing the game I haven’t noticed any faulty graphics, they are just too real and good to be true, seems like the developers made good use of the potential the PlaySation 2 has. You will be very impressed in the beginning of the game when the teams come out, their flags and of course the fair play flag. Well as you can see the graphics are great just like the gameplay. The music of the game and sound effects are also very well done. However you may not like when the same commentary on your play is repeated, it happens sometimes but it’s still very varied.    In the game there is some room for improvement however not much. It will take a lot of time and skill for you to master it, and you will always find a new way to score a goal, or there will be always a new move, or combination. Konami did a great job and now, the only thing you have to do, is go enjoy it! Do so either by yourself in the almighty master league mode, or with up to 8 friends. You won’t get tired of playing Winning Eleven 6, 100% guaranteed!
