NBA Street Review
Normally basketball video games are not good as far as sports games go. They can be boring, and tedious with fouls and regulations. As the systems advance in their graphics and programming power, the games advance in their gameplay. Unfortunately, this means that all the fouls, rules, and regulations can be (and are) included. Thankfully, EA has made a game that is less strict with the regulations. Meaning... practically none!
The graphics in NBA Street are decent. It's been around for a while, but is not one of the oldest games, thus, semi-decent graphics. Not great, but not horrible. I believe they are a bit pixelated, but not overly so. Some of the effects are a bit corny, but what did you expect from a sports game?
What else can you expect from a sports game? Not too good sound. Which is exactly what this game has. It's not like the sound is *bad* but it's not like its good either. However, there are some good effects and some of the music is good.
One particular place that this game shines in is how fun it is. Casually played, this game will not quickly become boring. On the other hand, if a serious gamer were to play NBA Street for a couple of hours, they would find it monotonous after the first time through. There is however, the effort that must be made to max out a custom player, which would be a great asset to any line-up.
A bane against saying things before their place comes! Once again have I put what I wanted to say about replaying into my fun factor area. Not much to say other then that. The multiplayer is absolutely fantastic on the flip side. I played it all night long with a friend. Didn't even look at the clock until 4 am.
The gameplay is good, though I do have a problem with some of the fakes. They're too easily performed and too hard to keep from being done (on the defensive side). Otherwise, the controls are pretty intuitive, the set up is good, and the menus are decent. Nothing compared to SSX Tricky's menus, but there aren't many games that could. NBA Street is a decent game. Not new, not old, but a good solid game.
