All-Star Baseball 2003 (NGC) Review
All-Star Baseball 2003 is a very interesting game. If you like sports then I think that you should buy it. If you don’t I think you should pass on the Game Cube version of this game. It has its good points but it is very difficult to play. There are however, many different game modes. All-Star Baseball 2003 also has different announcers then in the older games but they don’t seem to talk enough they are very silent during the game unless you hit a homerun, steal a base, or make a good defensive play.
The overall game layout of All-Star baseball 2003 is decent. It took at least 4 days to learn the controls. Because if you noticed there are not a lot of buttons on the Game Cube Controller. All-Star Baseball 2003 has its good points don’t get me wrong its not a terrible game. There are many interesting game modes. Examples of a few are Franchise, Expansion, Manager, and All-Star Game. This also includes the other usual modes such as Exhibition, Season, Career, Home Run Derby, and batting practice. Batting in this game is horrible. The pitchers look like they are standing ten feet away and when they throw the heat it is not easy to it in most cases. Also when runners are on base they tend not to slide automatically. Trust me this is a real pain in the @$$. When you learn the controls you should be able to have fun but it take time.
The Graphics in this game are good but a sluggish game play makes it look bad. The game is very well designed graphically because it is not blurry or anything like that. The sun looks fake when you see it but it doesn’t really matter all that much. The players are also very nicely and specifically detailed and they look like their real life selves. The uniforms, bats, gloves and accessories such as elbow pads, sunglasses, and shoes look real too considering this is a video game.
The sound in this game is down right horrendous. The announcers rarely talk and when they do they talk in the middle of the game and when something on the field occurs they are still blabbing on and on about something. UNTIL like five minutes later they realize something happened and then they announce what happen. This gets annoying because it happens frequently.
Overall this game has its ups and downs. If you like sports games go ahead and by it but if you don’t then don’t get interested because it isn’t really that fun. It is more challenging than it is fun and in sports video games you want to get high scores and good stats but with All-Star Baseball 2003 that is not included.
