Battlefield 19428

Battlefield 1942 Review

Ah, World War 2, the terrible war, also, a breeding ground for games and A movies, Electronic Arts has decided to again step up to the front lines to make another WWII first person shooter, not that it’s a bad thing, EA is famous for it’s great series, Medal of Honor. Straying away from the mission based MOH setup, BF1942 takes place throughout WWII, from Operation Battle Axe to the Island of Iwo Jima, this game is hectic and very enjoyable. The game starts you off by creating your profile, nothing special, then the game plunges you into the war as an unknown soldier, medic, scout, anti-tank, or engineer and sends you off to clean the world of the vile Nazis, or the allied soldiers, all dependant on what side you choose, allied, or axis. EA is famed for WWII games, but how does it stack up against the likes of MOH? Read on to see.

BF1942's graphics are astounding, provided you have a good PC to run it, the characters are nicely done, wearing authentic-looking WWII clothes, Nazis in grey, allies in tan, Japanese in green and tan. My only compliant, is that the characters, environment, and explosions sometimes...tend to disappear, or really mess up, I’ve seen soldiers disappear, or have spiky mesh glitches protruding from neck, arm, or “other” areas, hopefully a patch’ll clear it up, though. BF’s sound is as great as it’s graphics, it brings the game to life, but the game has sound glitches, explosions most often don’t even make a boom, hopefully, EA will make a patch to clear this up.

Playing BF, however, is a different story, it actually plays quite well, the game has customizable controls, which, I love, but the face that the vehicle controls can not be the same as the on foot controls, which is a very, very minor problem. Another thing that makes BF great is the overwhelming amount of NPC’s can be on screen at once, which leads to my favorite thing about games of that caliber, cheap death-o-Rama! Seriously, BF is full of cheap death most of my deaths were from planes crashing on me, or getting ran over by my own troops, who are so dumb, it hurts my mind to even compensate it.

Overall, BF is good package, with great deliverance, a few problems and mental giants for AI, BF stands out as an online game, full of griping poor sports. But asides that, it is worth having.
