Anarchy Online: Shadowlands Review
Anarchy Online came out at first on 2001 release by Funcom. Since then the game has gone through an extensive evolution, patch by patch it was fixed and it kept getting better and better. By the release of Notum Wars the game had less and less bugs and there were more objectives in the game. Now Shadowlands has been released, making Anarchy Online the ultimate MMORPG out as of yet.As many Anarchy players are already familiar with, the world of Rubi-Ka is huge. It is filled with dyna camps, dungeon, mission terminals and basically everything you could think of. (Let’s not forget blowing up towers and killing players in PvP mode). Shadowlands is not quite the same. After rebel Omni-Tek scientists discovered and adjacent dimension – a new world, they built the beautiful floating city of Jobe. Jobe does not only have the richest and luckiest players in their luxury apartments floating in the air but it also servers as portal to 7 beautiful and challenging areas.Nascense, Elysium, Schoel, Adonis, Penumbra, Inferno and Pandemonium make up the Shadowlands and are filled with many dungeons and monsters. Spirits are also found in many of these places. Low level areas have a short level range but above 90s players will find a challenge and it will be especially difficult for players who do not like to work in a team. Here the new AI system comes in play and shows just how smart the new monsters are. A monster lower leveled than you can finish you off easily if you aren’t up to date with your armor, weapons and nanos. (The new AI system is also effective in the old Rubi-Ka).Shadowlands also introduces many new features that increase the gameplay rating. First of all everyone, new or old to the game loves the new death system. Before you lost the XP and that was it. With SL it will got a pool and with every kill you will get a percent of XP from your pool until its empty. There is new armor, weapon and armor as it was expected, making the items database simply huge. Shades and Keepers are available for SL owners only serving as one of the most important secondary reasons to get Shadowlands. They are very fun to play with and extremely useful in team play. The Perks system is available for every profession. Perks are special abilities that will boost your skills or activate self refreshing nanos or special abilities. For every 10 levels you are allowed to train a perk point. You will also get perks for the new “Shadowlevels”. The perks system is definitely one of the best additions to the game.Among other things Shadowlands offers a new Game User Interface. It presents the game better to newcomers showing the futurist atmosphere of the game. The new GUI was also made available for players without Shadowlands which is very nice of Funcom (notice the sarcasm – they want keeper + shade too). The graphics in SL are beautiful, even if your computer isn’t so great. The terrain is very detailed and it actually looks like a real Extra terrestrial landscape. The soundtracks are nicely picked and fit each atmosphere perfectly. In a short summary the technical aspect of the game was improved a little bit, making the game even better.Shadowlands has a lot to offer, and it’s one of the best MMORPGs out there. So if you like Online RPGs you must try SL! Remember that SL also includes the original AO + Notum Wars so you get the most value for your money.
