Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones Review
Introduction The Star Wars saga has been nothing short of amazing. Everything they have brought us in gaming has been great and enjoyable. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones could have been so much more for the GBA. It’s really not that bad but it is also not that great. It is still fun none the less, I mean, pushing droids around with the force and dueling with Jango Fett, what’s not fun about that? The game itself has 3 levels of play: Padawan, Jedi Knight, and Jedi Master. With 2 types of levels you can wield a lightsaber and fighting on the roofs of Coruscant to chasing the Slave 1 in a 3d asteroid field. Play as Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Mace Windu. (Sorry, no Yoda fun at the end).
Gameplay Some including puzzles or just kill everything that moves. One incredibly annoying thing is that if you die, you go all the way to the beginning of the level.
The controls are not that bad (only saying that because of the force options J). You can use the force, deflect, swing, or kick. You can pull off a total of 1 combo that is easy to learn. That one combo can slaughter anything; it takes the final boss down in seconds.
Story The side-scrolling lightsaber levels are not that bad but it gets very repetitive. Walk 10 feet, droid. Walk 10 feet, small droid. Walk another, well, you get the picture. Levels can go on for awhile which is nice.
Graphics The graphics for the game could be a lot better, with emphasis on the words a lot. With the power of the GBA they barely nicked its full potential. Looks somewhat cartoony and fuzzy a certain points which really ruins the gaming mood sometimes. The 3d levels are pretty good. Some make no sense like fly through Coruscant and do not get hit by 30 foot yellow balls that just happen to be there. The 3d levels are a little worse graphics than the original Star Fox. As for the music, they did a pretty good job, some music from the movie and the original music from the theme song after “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”
Sound Overall it is a pretty good game but could of done better. I do not recommend buying this game but just renting it. If you are an addicted person who buys everything that says Star Wars you need to get a life and just rent it. You should try it none the less, once you get the hang of it the later battles are all worth it. My rating? On a scale of 1-10 about a 6. One last thing, it really needed a Vs. mode or something, that would of helped alot.
