Scorpion King: Sword of Oisiris Review
Introduction The Scorpion King game is based on a character from the movie that was released in April of this year. Just like the movie, it isn't anything original but its something that fun can be gained from. The game serves as a sequel to the movie because it portrays the scorpion king having been married to the sorceress he saved in the film. Now the story is all conventional story telling that has a few twists along the way but the game is purely meant for the action. This game delivers in the action department. Many different ghouls and mummy to destroy as well as some evil thieves and henchmen. The scorpion kings goal is to retrieve the sword of Osiris so that he can stop the plot of a psycho sorcerer. His wife has also been kidnapped. The action does get repetitive but in the end there is enough variety in the jumping, climbing and slashing to keep people interested. The game is as always, not very long (a problem with most GBA games) but it is fun while it lasts.
Gameplay Sound on the other hand is the games worst aspect. The sound bites are weak, grainy and repetitive and the sound effects are all too bland. The music is very upbeat but the Egyptian tunes get very old, very fast. I think that more work should have been done on this games sound because in the end, there just isn't much to listen to.
Story The graphics in the game are quite colorful (i mean in an Egyptian way) with lots of detail put into the surroundings. The main characters move smoothly and are well animated. The enemies on the other hand are kind of ugly and stiff in their movements. And in the end their isn't enough variety in the enemies to keep people looking at them. But the game is very detailed otherwise. There are plenty flashy particle blasts and beams to even keep Sci-fi fans happy. And while playing you will notice the infamous dirt mound rise from the ground spouting scarabs. The graphics are a treat overall.
Graphics Now while the replay value is low and the game has some crappy sound effects, the game is very entertaining while it lasts and i hope that this isn't the only scorpion king game we see because this could turn into a video game franchise. Well, if its well received by the consumers. Now lets just hope universal has a sequel planned. Overall this games is for keeps.
