Shrek: Swamp kart Speedway3.5

Shrek: Swamp kart Speedway Review

Introduction
Ok, now I tend to have quite a bit of patience when it comes to movie licenses but now I think I have changed my mind about that completely. I originally believed that this new Shrek game would be if anything , a decent kart racer. I know know that this game is the worst Kart game on the Game Boy Advance and in fact it may very well be one of the worst Game Boy Advance games of all time. Now its not that the gameplay or graphics are bad (they are) , its just that this whole game made me think of one word. RUSHED. This game is a sloppy and sometimes unplayable kart game that will leave its target audience disgusted. All in all I don't even know why it is called a Shrek game I mean yea it has some characters but it has no plot and no reason for the characters to be racing in cars that basically dont exist in that time to begin with.

Gameplay
The Graphics are horrible and that's all you really need to know. I mean they may be colorful but they are done so in an incredibly pixelated and choppy manner. The fact that the Mode 7 effect was used so clumsily doesn't help the graphics either. The Character models themselves are lifeless, dull and plain bland. The tracks are so generic that you will swear that you have seen the levels many times before. Overall I think that more time should have definitely been spent in the graphics department. Sound is the only part of the game that seems moderately tolerable. I mean the music becomes annoying and the sound effects are as generic as they come but they do not bore you to death as much as the rest of the game seems to do.

Story
The Mode 7 effect is horribly executed and is done in a choppy manner. The game runs at an incredibly meager speed that would leave you wishing to be riding on a donkey. I was incredibly disappointed with this game and I think that it should be avoided at all costs. But I guess I will explain the game to you.

Graphics
The Gameplay seems to try hard at being a decent kart clone but it just doesn't even reach mediocre and that is what we call dismal. I think the fact that the graphical bugs and pixelation add to the frustration that comes with this game. The tracks are generic and boring locales that sometimes have nothing to do with the movie. The control is very loose and each character seems to get worse as you scroll through the list. The AI is by far stupid and as much as I hate to use the word, this game really deserves it. There is very limited replay value with this game and i suggest that if you are a die-hard fan, that you should rent it because it doesn't last that long. The game is a choppy and glitchy kart racer that I think could have been better if the right effort was put forth. Overall the game is a flop and lets hope that when the next Shrek movie comes out, that a little thought is put into what the green ogre should be doing.
