Wolfenstein 3D Review
Introduction Wolfenstein 3D was a technical achievement when it was released in the early 90's and even today it proves to be a testament of what the GBA is capable of doing. Now while doom is better graphically it was only fair to release the first FPS ever created to the GBA scene. Now while the Gameplay is simple and
the sound even more so, the game gives players a nostalgic feeling. I mean it may be just the fact that they are taking down Nazis but i think its more than that.
Gameplay There is a variety of nazis in the game, each one more aggressive than the last. While the game
seems easy, it does become difficult later on when the corridors become more open and there is room to fill more nazis with. The bosses are hard, but they present a sort of surprise when they appear. What is that you ask? well they always seem to pop out on you. And yes they do follow you through rooms and
yes they can also open doors. The game is pretty long but when its over there is no reason to play it again.
Story Gameplay is quite simple but is very addictive when you get used to playing this on a GBA pad. Now is has a lot of levels and prepare to be playing for a long time but when its over ,well its over. The game is based on stopping Adolph Hitler from finishing his master plan of taking over the world. And most of the game is basically mowing down Nazis.
Graphics While they still are a graphical achievement for the GBA, they still look quite bland for my tastes. The game runs at a slow 15-20 fps on average and that is a bit lower than Doom ran (20-25).The walls are very
detailed but they are used over and over again. The enemies models are nothing to cry home about. Overall the graphics are nicely done.
Sound The sound effects are bland and i wish that ID would have updated them. Oh and there is no music at all. So this brings the sound score down tremendously.
Now this game is for pure nostalgia and it shouldn't be missed but as i said many times before. When its over ,its over. But we can always hope for a new Wolfenstein for the GBA. Hope and pray.
